Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed school uniforms and bags among orphaned students in the Sheikha Aisha Bint Hamad Bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah Model Orphans City in Sudan’s River Nile State.
The distribution came as part of the QC’s orphan care efforts, supported by the benefactors of Qatar, a press statement noted.
The project is aimed at supporting the orphans and provide a suitable environment for them, in addition to reducing the burden on their families in terms of educational requirements.
The generosity of the people of Qatar created an atmosphere of joy and happiness for the orphans, said Youssef Abdullah, the director of Social Affairs and representative of the executive director of Ad Damer district, where the Sheikha Aisha Bint Hamad Bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah Model Orphans City is located.
He appreciated Qatar Charity's continuous humanitarian and development support in the region, and indicated that the uniforms, bags and school supplies were distributed to orphans at a time when they were most in need.
The mothers of the beneficiary orphans expressed happiness at receiving school bags and uniforms provided for their children, thanking the benefactors in Qatar and QC for this humanitarian initiative.
Rehab Othman, a mother of two orphans, said her daughters were happy to get the bags and uniforms, as well as other school supplies.
Umm Salama, a mother of three orphans, said many families and mothers of orphans could not afford school bags, supplies and new uniforms for their children.
She said that the uniforms provided by the QC helps to alleviate the suffering of many mothers of the orphans.
Qatar Charity pays great attention to orphans by implementing various programmes and projects, as part of its social welfare efforts for those sponsored in Sudan.
The number of those sponsored in Sudan is currently 13,291, the statement adds.
