Qatar will participate in the 152nd session of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Executive Board held from Jan 30 to Feb 7 in Geneva, Switzerland. Qatar's delegation is headed by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.
The meetings will focus on the priorities of the four main pillars namely, universal health coverage, better protection from health emergencies and better health and well-being for one billion more people, and WHO providing better support efficiently and effectively.
The topics covered by the 152nd session will include universal health coverage, preparedness and response to public health emergencies, global strategy for infection prevention and control, and polio eradication.
HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari will also participate in the Steering Committee meeting of the "Healthy FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 - Creating Legacy for Sport and Health" in Geneva alongside leaders from WHO, FIFA, and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC).
The Ministry of Public Health signed a three-year partnership with WHO, FIFA, and SC so that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be a beacon for promoting physical and mental health and a model for ensuring that future mega sporting events are healthy and safe.
The Steering Committee meeting will review the achievements made so far within the framework of the partnership and identify the main priorities for 2023 and 2024.
