The Umm Al-Zabar team won a Lexus SUV as the first prize yesterday in the final of the Hadad Al-Tahadi Championship within the ongoing 14th edition of Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2023).
The first prize winner was selected through a draw from four teams, after several rounds involving 75 contestants over two days. The other three took home QR100,000.
Today (Friday), the crowd of Hadad al-Tahadi and those who are eager to see the chase between the falcons and the carrier pigeons are looking forward for the winner of the second grand prize of the championship.
Al-Mazayen Committee of the Marmi Festival received yesterday, at Al-Qannas Qatari Society in Katara - Cultural Village, the participants of Al-Mazayen Championship for the categories: Al-Hurr Al-Wahsh (Farkh and Qarnas), and Al-Hurr Tafreekh (Farkh and Qarnas), which are to participate in the two main rounds tomorrow (Saturday).
Mohamed bin Abdulatif al-Misnad, vice-chairman of Al-Qannas and the Supreme Committee of Marmi 2023, said the Mazayen Championship is one of the important tournaments in the festival every year, and it is of special interest to the falconers.
The festival, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and organised by Al-Qannas Qatari Society, will conclude tomorrow, in Sabkhat Marmi in the Sealine Area.
Mulka Muhamed al-Shreem, head of the Public Relations and Media Committee of Marmi 2023 and director of the New Media Department at Katara, thanked the media outlets that contributed to the success of the festival and preserving and promoting the Qatari heritage sport.
