An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Thursday Sichuan province, southwest China.
There were no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far.
The Chinese News Agency (Xinhua) quoted the China Earthquake Networks Center as saying that the earthquake epicentre in Luoding County, Guangxi Region, occurred at a depth of 11 km. According to the center, it was an aftershock of an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude that hit Luding County last September, killing more than 90 people.
China usually suffers from earthquakes and strong tremors, especially in the mountainous areas in the west of the country.
