The Ministry of Municipality's Agriculture Research Department (ARD) Wednesday organised a field visit to Rawdat Al Faras Research Station at Al Shamal area for a delegation on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Project for Development of Sustainable Date Palm Production Systems in the GCC Countries.
The members of the delegation were introduced to the latest projects of the research station on palm tree production and the experiments in the field. Hamad Sakit al-Shemari, director of the ARD, said that the meeting and the visit were in co-operation with the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
The visit covered the various related technical experiments and technologies used in the station to enhance the production of dates in the region. The delegation also reviewed the biological ways to fight the palm tree bugs using some domestic birds.
