President of the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) Dr Khalid Mohamed Al Horr stressed that the college witnessed an increasing number of enrolling students due to its high academic standards, high-quality labour market-compatible programmes, and encouraging educational environment.
This came in his speech during the graduation ceremony of the 11th batch of 929 associate's and bachelor's degree holders (Class of 2022).
In his speech, Dr Al Horr highlighted the efforts exerted by CCQ during the past year, including the evaluation of its 20 academic programmes that were designed according to the needs of the labor market, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Moreover, CCQ conducted a comparative study with a number of regional and international colleges, as part of its continuous efforts to promote high academic standards and high-quality programs.
He stressed that CCQ had spared no effort to enhance its academic and student services, and provide a stimulating learning environment. CCQ was also keen on attracting highly qualified academic and administrative staff and expanding its campuses to accommodate the increasing number of students enrolling at CCQ, approximately 8400 students.
He pointed out that CCQ has become a higher education institution of choice for Qatari students, with 20% of the total number of Qatari students pursuing higher education.
"Today, CCQ takes pride in awarding over 5400 degrees since its establishment in 2010. CCQ also served as a bridge for more than 3200 students to complete their higher education studies at other universities, mainly Qatar University," Dr. Al Horr said.
He noted that these accomplishments reflect CCQ's firm belief that human capital is the main driving force and ultimate objective of development, and CCQ's unwavering commitment to supporting national priorities and to being an efficient contributor to sustainable development.
In a related context, he pointed out CCQ's expansion in academic and strategic partnerships with a number of agreements and MoUs aimed at fostering academic collaboration and achieving sustainable human and social development.
In this context, he indicated that CCQ signed an articulation agreement with Lusail University to help CCQ students to complete their studies in one of the undergraduate programs offered by the University, an MoU with the Police Institute, opening Huawei ICT Academy Lab at CCQ, an MoU with Qatar Voluntary Center, and an MoU with Qatar Stock Exchange.
He also referred to the cooperation agreement signed with the Ministry of Interior to allow inmates of penal and correctional institutions to enroll in CCQ, pointing out that 23 inmates enrolled in CCQ's Foundation Program.
In her speech on behalf of the Class of 2022, Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration graduate Sabah Ali Alajji expressed her joy and excitement about turning the graduation dream into reality after years of study and hard work. She further explained how her class was full of dreamers who made their ambitions a reality through CCQ, which enabled them to pursue their higher education studies by introducing flexible learning pathways that helped them maintain a work-study-life balance.
CCQ's 11th batch includes 929 graduates (307 male and 622 female) from the three academic divisions: 591 graduates from the Management Sciences Division, 213 graduates from the Liberal Arts Division and 125 graduates from the Science and Technology Division.
The ceremony featured the graduation of the first class of the Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, 86 students; the first class of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, 11 students; and the first class of the Associate of Arts in Business Administration, 41 students.
