Dozens of flights were canceled Monday at Heathrow Airport in London due to the thick and freezing fog and the extreme drop in temperatures.
British Airways, the largest carrier at the UK's busiest airport, has axed around 80 flights.
The company operating the airport had informed the airlines late Sunday evening of the need to reduce the number of its flights by about 15 percent due to the bad weather and the restrictions imposed on air traffic in this atmosphere.
The British Met Office issued a yellow warning due to the freezing fog, which extends until midday local time over areas of southeast England.
