In another exciting match up of the Filipino Chess Players League (FCPL) Qatar 2023 Rapid Chess Tournament, AIM Syed Abdul Khader ruled the 8-round Swiss format on January 13.
Other winners include: Ryan Mendoza (second place) AGM Sumith K S (third), Nash Mua (fourth), and Taksh Sharma (fifth). Awards were also given to – Jayaditya Gantayet (best under-14), Mithran Krishnakumar (under-12), Nidhish Sakthivel (under-10), Amulya Guruprasad (best women), and Tanishka Harish Kuma (top unrated).
Participated by at least 60 wood pushers of ages ranging from six to 58 years, FCPL has been consistent in holding such events aimed at encouraging local expatriate communities to actively involve in honing their chess skills.
In a press statement, tournament organiser Rolenson Loyola said that they plan to hold monthly tournaments in Doha.
