Hundreds of Indonesian community members will benefit from the programmes and courses by the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs. A statement from Awqaf said that a total of 507 members, including 260 male and 247 female students are part of the courses that are supervised by the Muslim Communities Division of the Islamic Culture Department.
The courses, according to the statement, are run with the aim of educating them in the legal aspects of belief, jurisprudence, biography and others. The Department of Islamic Culture has also launched a programme for Russian-speaking Muslims. The course deals with various aspects of life and Islam’s view. The videos the centre publishes on its Facebook account in Urdu and English, have garnered thousands of views. The videos are accompanied by a weekly competition that includes questions about the content of the videos and the centre is giving prizes for the winners. The centre was recently visited by 30 tourists of different nationalities who arrived Doha on the cruise ships. They expressed their admiration for the centre’s efforts and its positive impact in introducing Qatari and Islamic culture.
