In a move aimed at encouraging and facilitating Umrah pilgrimage, the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah has announced a reduction in the insurance cost for foreign pilgrims. The ministry tweeted that the insurance fee has been reduced from SR235 to 87, marking a 63% decrease.
The visa procedures require visitors to get Umrah insurance that covers emergency treatments, admission, traffic accident injuries, hospitalisation, dental emergencies, pregnancy, dialysis cases and medical evacuations. Also, the insurance covers general cases such as permanent total disability and death due to natural disasters or other causes.
he ministry said the insurance includes travel-related coverage, such as flight delay and cancellation compensation. A person with the insurance can benefit up to 100,000 Saudi riyals. The duration of the coverage is 90 days from the date of entry into the country with its validity limited within Saudi only.
