The governments of Qatar and the Kingdom of the Netherlands signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral cooperation in the labour fields.
The MoU was signed by HE Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri on behalf of Qatar's government, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Wopke Hoekstra on behalf of the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Head of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office in Doha Max Tunon on behalf of the ILO.
The MoU aims to enhance the cooperation strategy implemented by Qatar with various governments and international organisations - the Ministry of Labour and the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in cooperation with the ILO in labour fields - especially in dispute resolution methods, social dialogue, and wage protection.
The MoU also aims to facilitate the exchange of information, delegations, and experts, as well as strengthen the technical cooperation between competent governmental and semi-governmental institutions within the framework of exchanging expertise and best international practices in the labour field.
According to the MoU, both sides will exchange study visits; organise seminars via video conferences; share information and best practices regarding dispute resolution, social dialogue, and wage protection; as well as boost cooperation between the three sides in a manner that contributes to the continuation of developing the labour environment in both countries.
HE Dr al-Marri also held a meeting with Hoekstra, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the labour field.
