The 14th edition of the Marmi Festival (Marmi 2023) continued to enthral spectators Tuesday when 24 falcons qualified for the semi-finals in the Al Tala'a (release of the falcons to hunt) section.
Al Tala'a Committee chairman Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Ali said that the semi-finals will take place Thursday morning.
The number of finalists in Hadad Al Tahadi (where the falcon has to hunt a homing pigeon within set conditions) meanwhile rose to 33.
A number of the participants in the Al Tala'a championship have said that the atmosphere during the qualifiers was wonderful and that there is strong competition among the falconers who have a great deal of experience in this type of tournament.
They noted that they had adequately prepared for this event and expressed happiness at being a part of Marmi this year, stressing that Al Qannas Qatari Society has taken great efforts to host the major festival.
Marmi 2023, organised by Al Qannas Qatari Society under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, continues until January 28, drawing more local, regional and international attention as one of the major festivals in its category, pioneered by Qatar to maintain and develop the traditional sport.
