The Turkish authorities announced that they had deported 124,441 illegal migrants in 2022.
The Migration Management Department of the Turkish Ministry of Interior stated in a statement today that 58,758 irregular migrants have voluntarily returned to their country.
It added that 280,206 illegal migrants had been prevented from entering the country, noting that the number of migrants who were deported in 2022 increased by 161% when compared to 2021.
