The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, inaugurated Thursday a week-long Honey and Dates Festival at Al Mazrouah Yard. The event will run until January 5, from 7am to 2pm, daily.
On the occasion, Youssef Khaled al-Khulaifi, director of the Agricultural Affairs Department, said that a number of Qatari farms producing honey are participating.
Following the success of the yards in marketing local agricultural produce, he explained that the Honey and Dates Festival will contribute to increasing the awareness and demand, thereby supporting the ministry's efforts to promote bee production on Qatari farms within the relevant national project.
Ahmed Salem al-Yafei, head of the Extension and Agricultural Services Department, said that 30 Qatari farms are participating in the event. Among the objectives is to encourage farms to expand their activities and beekeeping to produce honey, which contributes to their development and increased financial return.
