The death toll from heavy rains and floods in separate parts of the Philippines has risen to 25.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in the Philippines announced on Wednesday that the total number of victims of heavy rains and floods rose to 25, while nine others were reported injured and 26 people were missing.
The Council reported that 1,196 homes were damaged, and 393,069 people were affected by the floods. More than 81,000 people were displaced from their homes and were forced to live in shelters.
Material damages in the agricultural sector were estimated at more than 65,294,000 Philippine pesos, and damage to infrastructure was estimated at 20,870,000 pesos.
The Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,600 islands, experiences an average of 20 tropical cyclones annually, in addition to extreme weather conditions, such as monsoon rains that cause landslides, deadly floods and destroy crops.
