The National Cyber Security Agency honoured 38 officer candidates in the Ministry of Defence in recognition of their participation in protecting and securing cyberspace in Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in the presence of HE President of the National Cyber Security Agency Eng Abdulrahman bin Ali al-Farahid al-Malki, and HE Commander of Qatar Amiri Signal and Information Technology Corps Brig Gen Zayed bin Ahmed al-Kuwari.
Addressing the ceremony, HE al-Malki said that the wise leadership was aware of the magnitude of the challenges that would accompany the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 -- the biggest and most important tournament in the world. Securing cyberspace for the tournament in particular and for the country in general was among the most important challenges. Accordingly, National Cyber Security Agency was established to meet the challenge of securing the country's cyberspace.
He stressed that the National Cyber Security Agency succeeded to achieve its primary goal which was protecting the cyberspace of Qatar during the World Cup; indicating that the agency achieved this goal through active participation with the relevant authorities, most importantly the Ministry of Defence.
HE the President of the National Cyber Security Agency added that hard work, sincerity and dedication since the first day have led to achieving the goal of protecting the country's cyberspace from the risks during the World Cup. He explained that the National Cyber Security Agency had developed plans and precise and rapid work mechanisms to address any risk to various institutions, and was able to deter all risks.
HE al-Kuwari underlined that the National Cyber Security Agency achieved its goals aimed at protecting the cyberspace of Qatar, praising the agency's achievements during the past period, especially during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He noted that the fruitful co-operation between the Ministry of Defence and the National Cyber Security Agency comes at the directives of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, and HE Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Staff Lieutenant General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad al-Nabit, to develop joint co-operation and strengthen the protection of the country's Cyberspace.
He stressed the importance of continuous and fruitful co-operation and partnership between the National Cyber Security Agency and the Ministry of Defence through courses, practical training and other joint tasks aimed at enhancing the capabilities of workers in this important field; pointing to the importance of investing in Qatari cadres and developing their capabilities and skills in various fields, especially in Cyber security.
A film highlighting the achievements during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was displayed during the ceremony which honoured 38 officer candidates in the Ministry of Defence, in appreciation of their participation in the efforts of the National Cyber Security Agency, and the preservation and Cyberspace security during the tournament. At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between HE the President of the National Cyber Security Agency and HE the Commander of Qatar Amiri Signal and Information Technology Corps, on the occasion of the fruitful co-operation between the two sides.
