Immediately after the conclusion of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, a Qataris have started to make the necessary preparations for the winter camping season, giving boost to the sales of equipment, tools and necessities at the local market. Speaking to local Arabic daily 'Arrayah', a number of campers and shop owners stressed that preparations for the winter camping season are in full swing as many were very busy following the FIFA World Cup matches.
Now, they have enough time to set up their camps and equip their camping sites with all the necessary items to guarantee a comfortable and enjoyable camping time. The winter camping season in the southern areas of Sealine and Khor Al Udaid already began last Tuesday. Mohamed al-Kuwari, a camper, pointed out that everyone was busy with the FIFA World Cup, and young people in particular paid much attention to follow up its various matches and festivities. Accordingly, he expected huge turnout among Qatari young people at camping sites in the coming days, especially since they have more time to plan and prepare their camping holidays. He estimated that around 90% of young campers are currently busy with their equipment to start camping as soon as possible. He said that there are various camping sites across the country, and every person has his own preferences, whether in the southern or northern part of the country, or marine or land sites. This makes room for all to have more options.
He said that the main items and equipment needed for camping included an electricity generator, portable cabins, tents and other furnishing items. Ahmed al-Sheikh, a camper, expected that more and more people will start to prepare their winter camping sites and this will further boost the sales of the related goods and items. He noted that campers often have some necessities and camping gear and equipment from the previous years and seasons and keep these in special storage spaces inside their houses. However, with every new season, campers need to buy some new pieces of equipment to upgrade their camps and better equip them.
Hassan al-Mansouri, a shop owner, said that he has noticed considerable increase of demand on camping items and necessities over the past few days immediately after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup. He noted that mostly the purchase increases by the end of the month as the new salaries are paid to the employees. He pointed out that the tools and items on demand include nails, water tanks, wedges, nylon ropes, lanterns and nets, among other.
He stressed that tents are among the most needed items and they come in different varieties and sizes at different prices. The first grade tent of 3x3 meters sells for around QR2,100, and the price goes up to QR4,300 for a ten of 8x6 meters. He said that the prices of tents have been almost the same for a long time and there are different prices for different grades and sizes that give customers wide options.
