President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Dr. Patrice Motsepe described the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as the best edition in the history of the World Cup, praising the organisation and hosting of the tournament.
Speaking to journalists in Johannesburg on Wednesday, Dr. Motsepe said that he was proud of Morocco's historic performance and achievement following their qualification for the first time in the history of the continent for the semi-finals of the World Cup, while hailing the impressive performances of Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia and Ghana.
The CAF President added that the 54 African countries that are members of the CAF were extremely proud and inspired by the victories and successes of the five African Nations that represented the CAF at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as Morocco's historic qualification for the semi-finals as the first African and Arab country to reach this stage of the World Cup.
He continued by saying that he believes that one of the continent's teams may reach the 2026 World Cup final, following the great achievement of the Moroccan national team.
Motsepe said that the CAF aims to go further and the main objective is an African nation to lift the trophy.
