The Qatari-Moroccan Business Council is eyeing economic partnerships between the two sides in various fields, such as food security, renewable energy, and water desalination, an official said on Wednesday.
General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises deputy general of the president Mahdi al-Tazi made the statement in a virtual meeting with Qatar Chamber officials and Qatari businessmen.
The meeting was held in the presence of Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari; Ismail al-Ansari, vice-president of the Qatari side of the joint business council; Mohamed Baida, president of the Moroccan side; Qatar Chamber board member Abdul Rahman al-Ansari; and a number of Qatari businessmen, as well as other members of the joint business council.
During the meeting, Tazi stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the joint business council in building profitable economic partnerships between the two sides in various fields and stressed the keenness of both sides to achieve economic integration.
He emphasised that the Moroccan private sector is fully prepared to work with its Qatari counterpart to achieve common goals.
“The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, through the joint business council, confirms its commitment to work with the Qatar Chamber to develop an action plan for the development of economic and trade co-operation between the two countries,” said Tazi, who also congratulated Qatar for successfully hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Baida said the council will work on developing a strategy to enhance co-operation between the Qatari and Moroccan private sectors, serving as the link between businessmen from the two countries.
Also, al-Ansari conveyed the greetings of Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, who is the president of the joint business council’s Qatari side. He said the council will work to develop co-operation between the two sides and resolve obstacles to help Qatari and Moroccan companies strengthen partnerships and alliances.
Similarly, al-Kuwari stressed the importance of activating the joint business council by exchanging visits and discussing ways that would contribute to developing co-operation relations between the private sectors of both countries.
He also encouraged Qatari and Moroccan companies to establish joint alliances, noting that there are dozens of joint Qatari-Moroccan companies that are active in the Qatari market, such as in sectors like hospitality, trade, contracting, fashion, beauty, and services, among others.
Al-Kuwari said the Qatari market welcomes more alliances and Moroccan companies that are planning to invest in Qatar.
