Qatar, represented by the Permanent Population Committee, will participate in the fourth ordinary session of the Arab Council for Population and Development of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, which will take place at a ministerial level today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
President of the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) and chairman of the Permanent Population Committee, Dr Saleh bin Mohamed al-Nabit is leading Qatar's delegation.
The agenda includes discussion on important issues such as scheduling of multiple co-ordination activities with the member states to prepare for the regional review and a high-level conference on the 10th regional review of the Cairo Declaration on Population and Development to be held in June 2023 in Beirut.
The PSA president will outline the social and economic challenges facing these countries and the negative impact of their development sustainability to variable degrees.
Al-Nabit will highlight the need for the intervention to restore the relative balance in the equation of the population and development and to address the internal and external challenges that lead to complicating the social and economic situations in the Arab countries, in line with the objective of the Arab Council for Population and Development.
