The Education Above All Foundation condemned Wednesday a decision suspending Afghan female students' access to universities and schools, calling for giving all Afghan students equal opportunities for all levels of education, regardless of their gender.
A statement from the Foundation slammed discrimination against Afghan female students, as education is a human right that should be preserved by states for all their nationals without discrimination.
The Foundation stressed that no party should deprive anyone of their right to education, and states, civil society, communities and parents must work together to ensure that all children and youth have access to safe and quality primary, secondary and higher education.
The Education Above All Foundation, supported by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), is currently giving 250 Afghan students, half of whom are women, the opportunity to resume their studies after having left Afghanistan last year. With the help of the Qatar Afghan Scholarship Project (QASP), displaced Afghans can continue their post-education, thus increasing their opportunities to build a stable and prosperous future for themselves and their families.
