The Qatari team beat Africa and qualified for the final amid a heritage and cultural atmosphere as the Camel and World Cup 2022 event organised by the Arab Union for Camel Racing (AUCR) continued for the second day yesterday in co-operation with the Organising Committee for Camel Racing in Al Sheehaniya.
The activities of the day comprised Omani riding and Arda, which have a long history in the Sultanate, a show of standing on camel back, the start of a handball competition on camel back, which witnessed the participation of four teams.
The camel riders’ handball competition, introduced by the State of Qatar, was fun and interesting, whether for the camel riders on the field or for the audience and fans who watched the competitions, either from the stadium or the main booth in Al Sheehaniya Square.
The first round matches of the competition were held yesterday, where the first match witnessed the victory of the Qatari team comprising the quartet Sultan al-Kuwari, Matar al-Dosari, Muhamad al-Mohannadi and Abdullah al-Ghiathi (on the bench) over the African team including the trio of Mauritanian Sayed al-Amin, the Tunisian Osama and the Libyan Omran, with the score (8-7).
With this difficult victory, the Qatari team set a date for the final match scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday. Noting that the amateur team achieved a big victory over the Asian team with the score (10-3).
Today, (Friday) the event is scheduled to witness various activities and races, as a match will be held to determine the third place in the camel riders’ handball competition between the African team and the Asian squad.
