HE President of the State Audit Bureau (SAB), Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ahmed al-Emadi, said the Qatar National Day (QND) is a great national occasion that draws inspiration from the lofty meanings of the values and principles established by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
Al-Emadi in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) said the QND celebrations represent a beacon that lights the way, as well as an opportunity to affirm pride "in belonging to this dear country and loyalty to the wise leadership that continues the process of construction and development with determination, will, and solidarity of all the people of the country".
This has made Qatar an inspiration for countries aspiring for progress and prosperity, he stressed.
Al-Emadi added that this year's celebration carries a special symbolism as it coincides with Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He pointed out that Qatar, thanks to the strategic vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, was able to rise to the challenge of hosting a spectacularly successful FIFA World Cup football tournament. Qatar has scored a new historical achievement to add to its tally of achievements and excellence by creating all the conditions for an exceptional and distinguished version of the World Cup, and this will be recorded in golden letters in the history of world football, Al-Emadi said.
He praised this year's QND slogan, 'Our Unity is the Source of Our Strength', noting that the determination, unity, and solidarity of the people of Qatar have enabled it throughout history to conquer difficulties and overcome challenges. Thanks to this unity and solidarity, Qatar will show to the world a shinning image of the World Cup, which will reflect the civilised face of the region, values and culture of the authentic Qatari people, and its contributions to promoting the values of tolerance and love among all peoples, he stressed.
Al-Emadi stressed that the SAB is working to achieve the strategic vision of His Highness the Amir in the field of investing in the Qatari human element and building responsible citizens who can be pillars in building and developing the country.
Al-Emadi said the Audit Bureau adopts the best international practices in the field of oversight work and adheres to the utmost requirements of integrity and objectivity in performing its duties aimed at protecting public money and ensuring its optimal use to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030). He added that since the issuance of Law No. 11 of 2016 on State Audit Bureau, which strengthened the mechanisms of control and auditing of public funds, the bureau has been working to advance its oversight functions in accordance with the highest professional standards. It has created new oversight departments and developed pioneering control methodologies that enable it to carry out its oversight functions efficiently, objectively and with more effectiveness. and quality, upgrading the level of performance and verifying the compliance of the entities subject to its control with the laws, regulations and regulations and achieving the desired performance rates, he stressed.
Al-Emadi explained that the bureau has worked on developing risk-based audit methodologies and contributed to the development and activation of risk departments in the entities subject to control and the applications and programs development for the mechanism and management of supervisory work.
The SAB also works to enhance co-operation and communication with the entities subject to audit and the community in general to establish a culture of preserving public money. SAB has also worked to enhance co-operation with regional and international professional organisations and associations for oversight and counterpart supreme oversight bodies.
Al-Emadi said the QND celebrations should be a catalyst for more effort and hard work for prosperity of Qatar.
