Qatar weightlifter Fares Ibrahim secured two medals (one gold and one silver) in the 102-kg division in the ongoing 2022 World Weightlifting Championship in Colombia's capital Bogota. The 24-year-old claimed gold in the sniper and snatch categories with a total weight of 391 kg, outperforming Iran weightlifter Reza Dehdar, who claimed silver, and Armenia's Samvel Gasparyan who came third.
Ibrahim is one of the Arab world's most prominent weightlifters. He won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
