The former head of the Egyptian Football Association engineer Ahmed Megahed has said that the world has not and will not witness a World Cup event like the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and lauded the way the tournament has been organised and which has succeeded in attracting big crowds at all stadiums during the days of the competition and until its approaching end.
In his statement to QNA, Megahed said the tournament organising committee has succeeded in planning the events associated with the tournament in designated areas, which has prompted nationals from 32 countries participating in the tournament, to converge in one place to enjoy these events.
He pointed out that holding a tournament at such short distances between venues, has helped the football teams immensely as they move between the training and tournament stadiums. He said it has contributed to increasing their concentration and to not lose time, in addition to preserving the planning programmes of the teams.
He underlined that the World Cup tournaments held previously has never witnessed the facilitations provided at this tournament before, and referred to the expedited procedures in receiving tournament guests and their entry through multiple ports as well as the free-of-charge transportation that are available around the clock for all guests.
On the eight stadiums that are hosting the games from the start until the final stages, Megahed described them as the best in the world, and stressed that all the tournament stadiums were of global standards, in terms of the competition areas such as the footballers’ chambers, corridors, warm-up areas, coaches, media rooms, along with the hospitality areas for VIP visitors and services for the masses.
He said Qatar has managed to prove to the entire world on how it has preserved traditions and identity in the face of recurrent pressures, and added that the tournament has underscored that Palestine remains in the hearts of all Arabs and among those who have celebrated the achievements of Arab teams such as Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Morocco.
Touching on the technical aspect, he indicated that holding the tournament at this time of the year is one of the reasons for the high-level of technical excellence of the participating teams.
The good weather and the moderation of the temperature has helped the technical staff implement their ideas and in maintaining the footballers’ stamina away from fatigue, and pointed out that all apparatuses and sectors inside Qatar have succeeded in presenting a model that will never be replicated easily, stressing that such an edition of a World Cup tournament will be difficult to repeat.
