QIIB chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani has received British Minister for Investment Lord Dominic Johnson and his accompanying delegation during a special event held in Doha.
Sheikh Dr Khalid held a lunch banquet in honour of Johnson. The event was attended by British ambassador John Wilks, Office for Investment senior investment partner Mark Andrew Cooper, the minister’s private secretary Jack Hanson, His Majesty’s trade commissioner to the Middle East Simon Penney, and the British embassy’s director of Trade and Investment Jinoos Shariati.
The meeting was also attended by QIIB board member Ali Abdullatif Almesned, Qatar Islamic Insurance Company CEO Ali Ibrahim al-Abdulghani, and QIIB CEO Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei.
During the event, Johnson underlined the strength of the extended and close bilateral relations between the UK and Qatar in various fields of investment and business. He also stressed the great potential to increase co-operation among businessmen in both countries.
The meeting included constructive discussions on various economic aspects that would lead to co-operation and investment opportunities available for Qatari businessmen in Britain.
Johnson also expressed his admiration for the perfect organisation of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and wished all the success for the remaining activities of this important event.
Sheikh Dr Khalid stressed that the deep historical relations and ties between Qatar and the UK are helping the business sectors of both countries to consolidate their cooperation in the interest of both sides.
