The Ministry of Culture’s Music Affairs Centre has organised a symposium on the late musician Abdulaziz Nasser, entitled “Abdulaziz Nasser ... Dean of the Qatari Song”, as part of Qatar National Day activities at Darb Al Saai.
Writer, journalist and author Ibrahim al-Mutawa and singer Yusra Mohamed participated in the symposium moderated by Adel Abdullah.
Al-Mutawa spoke about the key parts Nasser’s life and career, saying that the late musician left a rich catalogue that reflected his genius and effort.
He also spoke about the late musician’s musical innovations and his journey since the establishment of Al Adwaa troupe in 1966, when he was only 13-years-old.
Al-Mutawa said that at the age of 14, Nasser performed his first song about Palestine, by the poet Harun Hashim Rashid.
