Mowasalat (Karwa) said its electric vehicles transported passengers over a distance of more than 1.8mn km from the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 until December 6, preventing emissions of over 1.6mn kg of CO2.
In a post on social media yesterday, the company said 900 e-buses were deployed for World Cup-related operations.
The total service duration of electric vehicles was 141,309 hours, while the total distance covered was 1,848,393km, according to Mowasalat.
The quantum of CO2 emission prevented was 1,684,256kg, equivalent to the absorption levels of 12,205 trees over a one-year period, the company added.
Meanwhile, Mowasalat 1,545 buses were used to transport 193,699 passengers on Wednesday, the 18th day of the World Cup.
In a related matter, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) said a total of 448,192 passengers were transported by the Doha Metro (424,520) and Lusail Tram (23,672) on Wednesday.
Also, 720 air movements were recorded at Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport on the same day.
