Thundery rain is expected in the country Thursday along with strong winds and poor horizontal visibility, the Qatar Met department has said. The weather report forecasts thundery rain and strong winds in offshore areas, too, in addition to high seas. The Met department had recently said scattered rain is expected in the country from Wednesday, followed by a shift in wind direction to Northwesterly and a noticeable drop in the temperature. The rain would be of varying intensity, happening intermittently until Saturday, which may turn thundery at times. The winds will be mainly Southeasterly-Northeasterly, with speeds ranging from 6-16 knots and gusts exceeding 25 knots during thundery rain. Then, it is expected that the winds will shift to Northwesterly on Saturday (December 10) and continue to be so until the middle of the week, accompanied by a noticeable decrease in the temperature. Thursday's detailed forecast says it will be misty in some places at first, and cloudy at times, and there is a chance of scattered rain that may become thundery. Cloudy conditions are also likely offshore and there is a possibility of scattered rain there, too, which may turn thundery occasionally. The wind speed may go up to 30 knots during thundery rain both offshore and inshore, with the sea level rising to 10ft.
The temperature is expected to range from 25-28C in Doha Thursday. Cloudy conditions and scattered rain were reported from some places in Qatar Wednesday along with thundery conditions at times.
