Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock wins re-election after defeating Republican Herschel Walker in the runoff race for US Senate in Georgia, giving the Democrats a 51st seat in the chamber.
Warnock won 51.2 percent of the vote compared to 48.8 percent for his rival.
The runoff race for the US Senate in Georgia began on Tuesday between Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.
For the second time in two years, voters headed to the polls in Georgia to choose a senator in the run-off elections after both candidates failed to obtain the required 50 percent of the vote.
In Novembers election, Warnock received 49.4 percent of the vote and Walker received 48.5 percent.
According to the electoral system in Georgia, the candidate who gets the most votes in the run-off race wins the election.
