The Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) is participating in this year's Darb Al Saai activities held to celebrate the National Day.
The club will present a series of interactive scientific shows.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), QSC managing director Sheikh Ali bin Salman al-Thani said that the club, in co-operation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), will offer a range of shows and experiences combining learning and fun, such as dry ice shows, air cannon, liquid nitrogen shows, and some shows for the ignition triangle, in addition to cultural competitions of a scientific nature that have received interaction and approval from the public.
He said that the club will also participate in the events accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, especially in the “D'reesha of Invention and Innovation', which will be held under the supervision and organisation of the Qatar Foundation (QF) from December 11-17, where it will present a number of events, such as scientific competitions, interactive scientific experiments, a meeting with an innovator, an exhibition on the inventions of Muslim scholars, the building World Cup stadiums, and the building Islamic and engineering heritage landmarks.
The QSC will also participate in events accompanying the World Cup, which will be held in Kahramaa Awareness Park, starting from Monday until the National Day.
Sheikh Ali added that the occasion of the National Day and its commemoration, in Darb Al Saai or in various places in the country, is a commemoration of the founding of Qatar by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
He said that the National Day represents an opportunity to introduce the works of the founders who endured hardships and paid a heavy price to achieve the unity of their nation.
The National Day also emphasises the identity of the state and its history, and embodies the ideals and hopes upon which the state was built, in addition to promoting loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity.
