The handicraft centre at Doha’s Souq Waqif has seen a high turnout of customers from among the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans. The fans have been keen to buy the traditional handicraft items, with sellers at the shops asserting their sales rose by up to 100%. Local Arabic daily Arrayah pointed out that the handicraft centre includes a number of shops that sell various products such pottery, brass items, traditional gifts, shoes, belts, swords, bags and different accessories and figures made of glass, brass and wood. Tourists loved in particular local traditional textile rugs and carpets, and natural leather products, in addition to the miniature models of wooden boats and dhows.
