With the participation of the Shura Council, the meetings of the permanent committees of the Arab Parliament began in Cairo yesterday, in preparation for the second meeting of the third session of the third legislative term of the parliament to be held on Saturday. The Shura Council is represented in the meetings by its members HE Sheikha bint Yousuf al-Jufairi, HE Issa bin Ahmed al-Nasr, HE Salem bin Rashid al-Meraikhi, and HE Hamad bin Abdullah al-Mulla, who are also members of the Arab Parliament.
The permanent committees in which the Council participates include the social, educational, cultural, women and youth committee, the Palestine committee, the economic and financial affairs committee, and the legislative, legal and human rights affairs committee. Over two days, the committees will review a number of reports and topics on the agenda to promote and develop joint Arab action in the political, economic, social, cultural, legislative and legal fields, in addition to ways to confront related challenges, as well as developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
During the first day's meetings, the members of the Shura Council expressed their strong rejection and denunciation of the malicious and systematic campaigns targeting the State of Qatar to undermine its right to host and organise the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, expressing their astonishment at the neglect and silence of the Speaker of the Arab Parliament regarding these campaigns. The members affirmed the Shura Council's keenness on strengthening joint Arab action, improving relations between the Arab countries and bringing their brotherly peoples closer together, in a way that achieves their hopes and aspirations for fraternity and mutual support to face all the challenges and difficulties facing the progress of the Arab countries.
