Presidents of Portugal and Ghana have stressed the importance of education hours yesterday, before their national teams faced off on the pitch at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Following their comments, Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo exchanged jerseys at an event hosted by Education Above All (EAA) Foundation inside the FIFA Fan Festival.
“The right of access to education is the vital thing that makes the difference. When we speak of equality and inclusive education we speak of the future and a long term vision,” said, Rebelo de Sousa.
On his part, the Ghanaian president said, “It’s important that the concepts of access and quality be taken right through the education ladder. So, yes, education above all.”
Both presidents also stressed the importance of the digital ongoing revolution, with the need for better education in those fields, such as STEM, as well as the energetic revolution.
The presidential dialogue was part of EAA's Scoring 4 the Goals campaign, being held on the sidelines of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The campaign aims to raise awareness for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the global blueprint for prosperity and peace for all.
