The World Cup Postage Stamps Exhibition will open its doors to visitors on Wednesday at the Arab Postal Stamp Museum in Building No. 22 of Katara Cultural Village Foundation.
The exhibition is part of the events organized by Katara in concurrence with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The exhibition includes more than 340 stamp plates from around the world, 280 of which deal with football World Cups from the first tournament in 1930 in Uruguay, to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The exhibition also, features a distinct and rare collection of World Cup holdings and includes various memorabilia displaying for the first time with the participation of amateurs from Qatar, Italy and Brazil.
The Executive Director of Qatar Stamps and Currencies Club, Hussein Rajab Ismail, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the exhibition will witness the participation of a Brazilian, an Italian and two Qatari amateurs. In addition to the acquisitions of the Qatar Stamps and Currencies Club Center, the collections of the Arab Postal Stamp Museum, explaining that the exhibition includes the stamps of the previous World Cup football tournaments that have been released since 1930 and up to date. In addition to a wide range of sports possessions of famous players and football referees from world, such as Brazilian player Pele. The collectibles contain the original shirts of players. referees a collection of cups, balls, medals, memorials and photographs from various football World Cups since the first edition.
He added that the exhibition also has a wide range of tickets of the old matches and messages from players to their fans, in addition to a special stand for stamps issued by Qatar Post especially for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He explained that the exhibition is organized in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, with the intention of informing the fans and visitors of the State of Qatar about the history of the World Cup from the first edition, to the current edition hosted by the State of Qatar which issued special stamps to document it.
