With the first FIFA World Cup in the region only days away, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has launched the Fan Engagement Centre at the FIFA Fan Festival in Al Bidda Park. Members of the SC’s Fan Leader Network attended the launch, which included an overview of the centre’s operations and a tour of the FIFA Fan Festival.
Located behind the Information Desk at the FIFA Fan Festival, the Fan Engagement Centre will provide basic consular services, support for fans who are facilitating fan gatherings, walks and performances, as well as serve as an outlet for fans to raise any concerns in a safe, fan-focused environment. It will also host fan engagement activations with tournament ambassadors and serve as a co-ordination hub for the SC’s Fan Leader Network.

“The Fan Engagement Centre will provide fans with all the support they need during the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world. It is centrally located at the FIFA Fan Festival and will help organise a vast number of fan activities during the tournament,” said Haya al-Kuwari, the SC’s Fan Engagement lead.

“The purpose of the centre is to support fans and offer advice for anything they wish to do in Qatar,” said Samantha Sifah, the SC’s Fan Engagement Manager. “It will provide a safe space for any fans who wish to discuss something privately while also acting as an off-shoot of the International Consular Services Centre, where fans will be able to seek consular support directly with embassies and missions. We look forward to meeting, welcoming and supporting visiting fans from across the globe.”

USA fan Brian Wright, a member of the Fan Leader Network, said: “I think it’s great to have a facility like this for fans to seek information and support. The Fan Engagement team has done an awesome job in trying to get everybody involved in this tournament. I’m sure this facility will be extremely helpful.”
The Fan Engagement Centre will be open from 10am to 10pm, from November 19 to December 18. The first comprehensive FIFA World Cup host country fan engagement programme of its kind, the Fan Leader Network is a community of more than 400 fan leaders and influencers from 60 different countries, who were recruited by the SC to contribute to pre-tournament planning through fan insight, research, content creation and message amplification.
