Action from ‘Puss in Boots’ which opens this evening

The curtains will rise on the annual Doha Players Pantomime tonight, as amateur dramatists of all ages and nationalities will take to the stage in ‘Puss in Boots’ for the next three nights.
The show will take place this evening, tomorrow and Friday evenings, as well as Friday and Saturday afternoons at the Doha British and Montessori School.The pantomime has been directed by the Doha Players chairman, Peter Phillips and Celia Ward, and it promises to be another enjoyable event for the whole family.Featuring a number of young children in the chorus, the play tells the story of Peter (Iona Gibson) and his quest for the love of the Princess (Holly Steele), which introduces him to the amazing talking cat, Puss (Raelene Dufresne), as well as numerous other memorable characters along the way, including the dastardly Gruesome and Crushbones the ogre (Muge Ozbey).Comedy is brought to the show by the hilarious Queen Fanny the Fifth of Arcadia (Christopher Churchouse) as well as the brilliant Hector and Casper, and Freckles. The traditional pantomime characters appear throughout, such as the Fairy Godmother (Gill Hope) and there are plenty of opportunities for audience members to shout, sing, boo, hiss and declare “he’s behind you!” The show also features a number of well known songs, from modern tunes such as “Billionaire” to classics such as “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” ensuring that there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
