Hameed and Usman with British High Commissioner to India James Bevan at his residence in New Delhi after receiving the award

Doha entrepreneurs K P Abdul Hameed and A K Usman have received the “Bharat Samman 2011 awards” instituted by New Delhi-based NRI Institute at a function in the Indian capital.
The awards are given annually to 20 people “in honour of their contributions to social work, education and philanthropic activities”, according to a statement issued in Doha.
Hameed received the award from former Indian Army chief General J J Singh and former Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh gave away the award to Usman.
A reception in honour of the award winners was held at the residence of British High Commissioner to Delhi James Bevan.
Abdul Hameed and A K Usman are managing directors of Al Muftah Rent A Car Doha, the country’s first car rental company.
