Qatar and China yesterday signed in Doha several agreements after talks between Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
Talks dealt with bilateral ties and means of promoting them in various fields besides regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The talks were attended by a number of ministers.
On the Chinese side, the session was attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying Wen.
Later, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and the Chinese premier witnessed the signing of an agreement to form a Qatari-Sino committee for investment co-operation; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on forests, combating desertification and the protection of wild animals and plants between Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and the Chinese Forest Service; an MoU between the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and the People’s Bank of China (PBC); an agreement on crisis management between the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) and a sharing agreement for the Donghai project between Qatar Petroleum International (QPI), PetroChina and Shell.
The Chinese premier who is in Doha on a two-day official visit was received upon arrival at the Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada and the Chinese ambassador Zhang Zhiliang.

Wen said he was happy to visit Qatar at the invitation of Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani. He also extended his sincere greetings and good wishes, on behalf of the government of China and its people, to the Qatari people.
In a press statement after his arrival he said over 24 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Qatar, the two countries had conducted fruitful co-operation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, energy and culture, and had maintained good communication and co-ordination on the international and regional affairs.
He stressed that China attached great importance to its relations with Qatar.
