Indian shooters at the reception hosted jointly by the ICC, IBPN and ICBF
The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and the Indian Business Professional Network (IBPN) jointly hosted a reception in honour of Indian marksmen and women taking part in the ongoing 12th Asian Shooting championship.
At the reception, the entire team of 109 shooters from India was honoured by the three forums, working under the aegis of the Indian embassy.
The function held at the Indian Cultural Centre had deputy chief of the Indian embassy Sanjiv Kohli as the chief guest. The first secretary at the Indian embassy M R Qureshi and second secretary Anil Nautiyal were also present.
Speaking at the meeting, India’s chief national coach Sunny Thomas highlighted the achievements of the team members.
“Abhinav Bindra, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Gagan Narang have brought laurels to India at international level and some of them are holders of world records too,” said Thomas, the only shooting coach to have got the Dronacharya Award.
The programme started with a welcome dance by students of the ICC dance class.
General secretary Tarun Basu welcomed the gathering.
Chief guest Kohli, ICC chief K M Varghese, ICBF president Nilangshu Dey and IBPN president Azim Abbas spoke.
Abbas presented a memento to Thomas.
ICBF general secretary Divakar Poojary compered the programme and IBPN general secretary Yasir Nainar proposed a vote of thanks.
