Bright Future International Pakistani School (BFIPS) lifted the second Pak Inter-schools debate trophy at an event hosted by Pak Shama School & College.
The contest, commemorating the 135th birth day of Mohamed Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, was organised by community forum Ehsaas.
Pakistan Ambassador Mohamed Sarfraz Khanzada presided. Students of grade 9 to 12 of Pakistan Educational Centre, and Pak Shama School were the other contestants.
The debate was titled ‘Jidher ki hawa ho’ udher ko chalo’ (move according to the winds). Sidra Khalil, Syed Arzanish, Safoora Ubaid, Salman Javaid, Tahirt Abdul Qudoos and Abdullah Qureshi spoke for the motion.
The speakers against the motion were Aqib Yahya, Amna Amjad, Mohamed Bilal, Nida Nasir, Sadia Sadaf and Ayesha Abdul Qudoos.
While Aqib Yahya (of PEC) won first position and a cash prize of QR1,000, Abdullah Qureshi (of PEC) and Salman Javaid (of Pak Shama School) took second and third positions, respectively, and received cash prizes of QR750 and QR500.
BFIPS won the 2012 Ehsaas trophy on the basis of overall marks.
The judges included Saleem Kapoorwala, Mudassar Naveed and Azmat Haroon. Ehsaas general secretary Amin Motiwala welcomed the guests and presented the forum’s report and a brief on its activities.
Ehsaas president Furqan Paracha lauded the continuous support of Pakistan embassy and the interest of Khanzada in community events.
Pakistan embassy counsellor Mohamed Afzal Shaikh was the co-ordinator of the event conducted by Tahir Jamil. Unicon and Al-Khayarin groups were the sponsors.
Pak Shama School chairman M A Shahid lauded the activities of Ehsaas and announced that the school auditorium will be available any time for the forum’s activities.
