Announcing this yesterday at a meeting attended by principals of seven of Qatar’s nine CBSE-affiliated schools, the organisers, CBSE Principals’ Forum (Qatar Chapter), said besides senior CBSE officials, professionals and experts from key areas of education would speak at the sessions to be held over four days.
The inauguration of the conference will be held at MES Indian School at 9am on January 18, at a function, to be chaired by Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa.
Fouzia al-Khater, director of Private Education at the Supreme Education Council, will also attend.
A P Sasidharan, principal of MES Indian School and convener of the Qatar Chapter of the forum, said more than 80 principals representing as many Indian schools affiliated to the CBSE in the GCC states have confirmed their participation.
He said it is estimated that more than 120 schools of the Gulf region are affiliated to the CBSE.
The theme of the meeting is “Synergise to energise”, where such key areas of interaction and co-ordination pertaining to the conduct of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in the CBSE schools would be deliberated at length.
“The biggest advantage for the participants is the chance of learning and understanding successful experiments at different levels at a host of schools across the region,” said Sasidharan.
The principals will also discuss the strategies to further popularising and strengthening the CBSE initiatives and programmes through innovative teaching and educational methods, said the convener.
Besides CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi and director (training) Shobana Parashar, US-based Katherine Hargrove and Keith B Heath will also make presentations at the meeting.
Representing CBSE-affiliated educational institutions in the region, Dr Mohamed Aejaz (principal of Doha’s Ideal Indian School), Dr Farooq Wasil, Ashok Kumar and Sreenivas K Iyengar are among others speaking at different sessions.
Besides Sasidharan, principals of Indian schools in Qatar Dr A K Shrivastava (Birla Public School), J G Jindal (Doha Modern Indian School), Asna Nafis (DPS-Modern Indian School), Sanjeev Kumar Jolly (Al Khor International School –Indian stream), and Mohamed Ismail (Shantiniketan Indian School) spoke on different issues to be discussed at the meeting.
Sasidharan said principals of Bhavan’s Public School and Noble Indian School will also join them at the four-day conference as special invitees as they are about to complete their affiliation processes with the CBSE.
