The Messaieed Industrial City’s (MIC) municipal services division has organised an awareness session on food safety and hygiene for restaurants and cafeterias, at the Mesaieed Golf Club.
In all, some 41 participants from restaurants and cafeterias in Mesaieed including representatives from ASRC, MGC, Amwaj Catering and MFM’s Food Control and Hygiene section attended the event, which aimed to raise understanding, promote discussion, recognise the challenges and achieve good standards of food safety and hygiene
in MIC.
Ihtisham Ulhaq Shamsul Haq, food control and hygiene supervisor, conducted the session, which focused on overview of food-borne illnesses and a presentation of a wide range of key food safety issues, including the three main types of food safety hazards, their sources and methods of control in restaurants and cafeterias.
The session was followed by a video presentation on basic food safety.
Municipal and Facilities Services department manager Maliq Omer al-Dafea and Municipal services division head Adel Ghaith al-Tamimi were thanked by the participants for organising the session.
