Flower shops in Qatar report brisk sales of both indoor and outdoor seasonal plants as many residents seek to beautify their homes.
“We are receiving increased number of customers, mostly Europeans, Qataris, Asian expatriates and  some Africans, who are coming to purchase plants, especially the seasonal plants, for their homes and offices,” said Shamnadh P C, a supervisor at a flower shop.
Indoor houseplants as well as garden flower plants and fruit trees including date palms are in high demand.
“More customers are buying green plants for indoors and many, including mostly Qataris, prefer fruit trees such as date palms for their garden,” Shamnadh said.
He said easy care for most of the plants also made them popular.
“Most of the indoor plants need to be watered once a week, require soil vitamins only once in three months and majority of them do not really need too much light, especially direct sunlight,” Shamnadh explained.
Prices of such plants range from QR130 to QR2,000 depending on the size and height, he said.
