Children present a dance programme at the event
A large number of people attended the  ‘Cultural Programme for Communities’ organised by Qatar National Day organising committee in association with the Ministry of Interior  at the Hamza bin Abdul Muthalib school on Friday. 
A carnival atmosphere prevailed at the event due to the participation of a huge number of expatriate forums.
During the closing ceremony attended by officials from the organising committee, Ministry of Interior and community leaders and officials from various schools, Col Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah, director of public relations department and member of Qatar National Day organising committee, presented trophies and cash awards of QR3,000, QR2,000 and QR 1,000 to  the first, second and third prize winners respectively. Trophies for all teams from communities and schools were also presented. He also honoured the judges and distributed prizes for the quiz contest winners.
In the community category, the Indonesian team won the first prize, the second prize was bagged by the Sri Lankan community team and the third prize went to Filipino community.  Ideal Indian School won the first prize in the school category competition and the second and third prizes were bagged by Pakistan Education Centre and MES Indian School respectively.
“We have organised this programme due to the keenness -of the Ministry of Interior in communicating with the expatriate communities residing in the state, and as a result of our feeling that this communication enhances security awareness among the community members. Through  cultural programmes we are keen to introduce to them the customs and traditions of Qatar, “ said Col al-Muftah.
