Reach Out To Asia (Rota) which raised $13mn during a gala dinner and charity auction on Monday will use the money to support the organisation’s ongoing programmes in Asia, the Middle East and Qatar, a senior official said yesterday.

The money will be also used to launch new projects in other Rota focal countries, its director Essa al-Mannai said.
“The enthusiasm and generosity of our fourth gala dinner guests is a clear demonstration that philanthropy extends throughout the global community in many positive and tangible ways,” he said while expressing the Rota board of directors’ gratitude to all the guests, sponsors, volunteers and staff for all their support to make event a great success.
He said there is now a deeper understanding and commitment from businesses and individuals to make a positive contribution to the communities in which they work and live.
“This includes helping Rota respond to the challenge of providing access to good quality, secured education facilities and resources for the troubled communities of Asia,” al-Mannai added.
Rota is committed to providing high quality and relevant primary and secondary education, encouraging relationships among communities, creating safe learning environments and restoring education in crisis affected areas across Asia and around the world.
“It also envisions a world, where all young people have access to the education they need in order for them to realise their full potential and shape the development of their communities.”
