The playground is built on the public park located next to the Sheraton Hotel giving every family in Qatar the opportunity to get together with their loved ones.
The agreement to build the park was signed in April this year by Vodafone and the Doha Municipality. Shortly afterwards SSK Enterprises were commissioned to build the park in adherence to American and UK safety standards making it a safe experience for all children featuring new and innovative equipment. The park has also been designed for wheelchair accessibility and support, making it the only park in Qatar suitable for children with special needs.
Vodafone raised more than QR 2.5mn towards building the park. The money was raised as part of Vodafone’s “Get Together” local calling promotion that launched during the holy month of Ramadan last year and ran until March 31, 2011. During the promotion, Vodafone put one Dirham towards funding the building of a public park for every local call a customer made.
“We are thrilled that the Vodafone public park is now open. The park is a gift from Vodafone to the people of Qatar so they can enjoy precious time with their family and friends. Our commitment to building the park is in line with our purpose of ‘Making a World of Difference for All the People in Qatar’, said Richard Daly, CEO, Vodafone Qatar.
“I would like to thank our customers who were part of making this happen through every local call that they made and I would also like to thank Doha Municipality for all their support and collaboration in bringing this project to life,” continued Daly.
