Doha

Windy and dusty conditions, along with a resultant drop in visibility, are expected to continue in the country on Wednesday, the Met office has said.

There are also chances of thundershowers in some places, while strong winds and high seas are likely in offshore areas, according to the forecast.

Large parts of Qatar, including Doha, saw strong winds and dusty conditions yesterday, which brought down visibility considerably in some areas.

At one point, the visibility in Doha was recorded at 1.2km, according to information available on the Met department’s Twitter page.

Swirling dust, aided by strong winds, was reported from several areas and the weather office warned people to remain cautious due to the sharp drop in visibility.

Today, slight to blowing dust - and partly cloudy to cloudy conditions later – are expected in the country along with a chance of scattered rain, which may be accompanied by thunder in some places. The wind speed will rise to 25kt in some places during the day.

Places where rainfall is expected include Doha, Messaied, Al Khor, Abu Samra, Dukhan and Al Ruwais, the weather office has said.

Partly cloudy conditions, along with slight dust, are likely in offshore areas. There is also a possibility of scattered rain, accompanied by thunder, in some places. The wind speed in these areas will range from 15kt to 25kt.

Visibility, meanwhile, is likely to drop to 2km or less today.

The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country are likely to be 24C and 32C, with the forecast for Doha being 25C and 31C.
