The Swiss woman who was freed by Yemeni hostage takers after one year arrived last week in Zurich and said her captors had treated her well.
“Basically, I’m doing well,” 33-year-old teacher Sylvia Abrahat said. “I’ll have to learn how to live again.”
Abrahat had worked at a language institute in the town of Hudaydah, where she was taken from her home in March last year.
She was released last week after mediation efforts by Qatar, Swiss diplomat Ralf Heckner said, adding that no ransom was paid. The woman did not disclose details about her abduction and captivity.
