Losail International Circuit recently played host to Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki for the launch of two supercharged machines that will head their famous Ninja range of motorcycles in 2015.
Already familiar with the world famous Losail International Circuit (LIC), Kawasaki chose to return to a venue that has played host to the leading motorcycle manufacturer on two previous occasions.
With intense motorcycle and automotive media interest in the two 1000cc supercharged machines, journalists from across Europe and as far afield as Brazil and America enjoyed perfect conditions at the 5.38 kilometre circuit. Riding in daylight and under the unique conditions of numerous night-time floodlights, the chance to compare the highway focussed Ninja H2 and the track-only Ninja H2R, the early journalist reviews have been highly enthusiastic.
Billed as the fastest accelerating mass production land machine in the world, the Ninja H2R is rated at over 300 horsepower and retails at QAR 225,000, while the Ninja H2 version that is highway friendly will cost QAR 115,200.
Commenting on the launch, Mr Shigemi Tanaka for Kawasaki Motors Europe praised the work of the circuit and the warmth shown by the people of Qatar.
“Landing at the recently opened Hamad International Airport is the first indication that Qatar is a country with a strong vision of its identity. From our stay at the Ritz-Carlton to time spent with the staff and management of the Losail International Circuit we have had outstanding co-operation and hospitality.
As a venue to unveil two of the most iconic machines in the history of our company, Kawasaki could ask no better than be here in Qatar at such a famous state-of-the-art circuit.”
Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah, QMMF President and LIC General Manager, expressed his happiness to the fact that Kawasaki has chosen Qatar and the LIC to launch a new product for third time. “I am very happy to welcome again Kawasaki to the Losail International Circuit to unveil a new motorbike.”
